These bikes were fast and handled beautifully. These true GP 2 stroke machines featured 4 cylinders, 500cc, 120hp and 120kgs. It took me awhile to learn to ride them in the early part of the season. I think perhaps as I was riding both 2 and 4 stroke at the same time. Besides it was a GP bike and I had no experience at all with them so I was on a steep learning curve. Perhaps the best bike was the 1981 XR35. It was a little fragile and suffered gearbox shifting problems so I lost valuable points at Hochenheim.
